Ive been biting my tongue everyday for as long as i remember. Somedays its worse than others. I bite the skin off the tip of my tongue unconsciously and consciously until it bleeds. It can get painful but that still doesnt stop me, My dentist told me to stop as it may cause infection but i literally cant. My teeth just bite down again and again. Was wondering if anyone else had this problem and or any tips to overcome it as its really starting to get me down. Im not mentally ill, self harming or suffering any ocd symptoms im pretty well adjusted. Thanks.

You may think this a strange suggestion, but have you considered hypnosis? It can often have amazing results in "curing" such behaviour...
Maybe you should have a word with your doctor too. The fact that you are doing it both unconsciously and consciously sounds a bit worrying to me.
Do you do it when you`re worried or stressed? I used to nibble the skin on the inside of my mouth when I was worried about something. It`s difficult to stop because half the time you don`t know you`re doing it. My boyfriend used to nag me about it which made it worse because that planted it even further into my subconcious.
I just tried to stop myself everytime I was aware I was doing it but even these days I still do it if I`m worried sometimes. Maybe you could try the NLP kind of hypnotherapy.
Yes - NLP would probably be very beneficial...
Or mabey cognitive behavioural therapy
*maybe*
Possibly, though I'd almost certainly try NLP first.

I think the message to the OP is that this is by no means untreatable...
