Apart from porage and other cholesterol-lowering foods. What substantially cuts blood pressure? I am already taking prescribed meds for this hypertension and wish to avoid increased dosage my GP is likely to apply. (Sorry to those who must be bored of this same type of question....)

- Don't smoke cigarettes or use any tobacco product.
- Lose weight if you're overweight.
- Exercise regularly.
- Eat a healthy diet that includes lots of fruits and vegetables and is low in fat.
- Limit your sodium, alcohol and caffeine intake.
- Try relaxation techniques

Thanks guys- don't smoke or drink.....could lose some weight though....
Losing weight really does work , a couple of years ago i was losing weight and at the same time minitoring my blood pressure. As my weight reduced so did my blood pressure, about 20 mm mercury for 2 stone weight loss
