My right leg is killing me, I have a lot of pain in the back of upper leg, going down to my ankle. My back is a little sore too but not bad. I seen a doctor a week ago about it, and he didnt seam too concerned, said it was a pulled hamstring, but could possibly be a slipped disk. He sent me off with some normal painkillers and said to come back in 6 weeks if its not better.
But it feels like its getting worse, im not even doing anything and the pain is kicking in. Should I go see my doc again? Should I see a different doc? I dont like going to see the doc if its 'nothing' but its starting to get really sore

It's not nothing if it's so sore. Go back to your doctor.
Have you done anything to pull the muscle, if so putting ice pack on for about 20 mins at regular intervals may help but will take its time to heal. After a few days alternate ice and heat. Works for my OH who is allways getting injuries running

Sciatica? That's bloody painful.
It could be a slipped disc (doubt it) and I agree with your DR it could be pulled hamstrings.
However...how long have you had it ? Is the leg swollen? What were the painkillers?
Sometimes with aches and pains, it's better to actually move rather than stay in one position. I know they get peple moving quite quickly even after hip replacements... Maybe go back to doc, et some advice on the pain and see if there's anything to maybe doing some gentle exercises.

Ive had it for about a month but it didnt start off as sore as it is right now. Not swollen, and the painkillers were ibuprofen. The doc didnt say anything about ice, just said to rest it. Im going to make an appointment with a different doctor i think
Thanks all
Had sciatica once...sounds a bit like that ?.....
Sciatica gives a pain across the hip and down the leg to the big toe. It's very unpleasant.
OK...sounds muscular....I agree with ubasses re. ice packs.

Ibuprofen 600mgms is the right dose.

Leave it over the weekend as it is "no big deal" and if no better on Monday make an appt to see your doctor.

I have no idea why you need to see a "different " doctor.
From the symptoms given it sounds quite likely that you have a prolapse of one of the discs in the lumber region of the spine. Keep your self mobile and see what actually makes it feel worse, if it is bending and twisting then it is further indication of disc prolapse. Ibuprofen is none effective as it is an anti-inflammatory not a pain relief.
Make an appointment with a different Doc and take along a diary of what makes it worse or what gives you some relief. They will be reluctant to send you for further tests as the only way of getting a full diagnosis is an MRI scan, which are not cheap.
I have had three Ops on my lower spine so i know what you are going through, currently awaiting admission for a fourth op to have the lower four vertebra fused together and then plated and screwed, not bad for a forty year old!!
I can´t understand what difference seeing a different Dr makes....please explain.

Some doctors are reluctant to give referals. If you needed work doing on your house would you accept the first quote given or would you get two or more and see which gives the best outcome. Works just the same within the medical profession.
Gee HH you have been through the mill-hope you get fixed soon...
Have to say though -Ibuprofen is a good painkiller as well as an anti imflammatory.Different strokes for different folks but I wouldnt touch Paracetomal (not that you suggested it) in any shape or form -far rather Ibuprofen which has a dual purpose.
I think it sounds like Sciatica but then again the advice would be rest.
Have you tried an Osteopath or Chiropractor jp? NHS dont fund for that but I have had excellent results from them when I could barely walk and im not alone.
2nd opinion....for Christs sake give the first Doc a fair crack of the whip.¨

The UK is not that "knee deep" in Drs that we can dish out two doctors for one patient´s condition.

Maybe a second opinion if the second opinion was a Consultant, but who is to say that one GP´s opinion is better than another GP´s opinion.
AT my GP Practice I do.
Some are more proactive though Sqad. I went to a doctor because I could "feel" something in my abdomen and she had a light prod and said it was nothing.
I went back to a different doctor or arranged tests and the first one had missed a 13cm fibroid.
House bond....nonsense...this is nothing to do with "quotes"
Would you take the lowest quote chancing that the finished article would be as good as the most expensive quote, even if people told you that the lowest quote was from "cowboys?"
I would only ask for a 2nd opinion if it became chronic -it hasnt yet.A week isnt a long time in fairness.
