sengas.....are you suffering from any other conditions e.g diabetes?

Ii is extremely unlikely to be carpal tunnel syndrome as it would need to be bilateral.......not unheard of, bit no common.

It sounds like a classical peripheral neuropathy of which there are many causes, diabetes being on of them.

I agree, see you GP as you will need...

go to the doctor.
It could be carple tunnel syndome, google and see if your symptoms match, if they do go to your GP
Going to doctor is probably wise to be sure. One thing I would suggest is getting a mousepad with the gel pad for your wrist and also one in front of your keyboard for both wrists as this may help. You could be straining something so you could try a physio.
It could even be CARPAL tunnel syndrome

I'm not familiar with carple tunnel syndrome
:-)
Go to the docs. It could be rheumatism/arthritis
Carpal Tunnel Syndrome seems like a possibility to me as well. Click through the links ('Symptoms', 'Causes', etc) here for further information:

For other possibilities see also here:

I agree, see you GP as you will need investigation. For the moment take Ibuprofen 600mgs to ease the pain.
I was going to suggest "possible" CTS/RSI as well. My ex had it and used to get awful pain in his hands.

I take it it affects fingers on both hands? Is it all/any fingers or particular ones?

Does resting them help (eg if you are away from typing does it help?).

Do you have any medical conditions like diabetes?

I'd definitely get it checked out.
Ahhh sqad, you beat me to it! ;)
sorry , but gp best option.
Could it be Chilblains? Do they burn or feel itchy?
