Are there any pills out there for teens below 18? If so please give me the names. I mean I've been playing basketball for 5 years now and i don't seem to be losing weight.

What do you think that diet pills will do above and beyond a calorie deficit?
I would visit your GP before taking any slimmimg pill supplements.

It doesn't really matter how much basketball you play, the only effective way to lose weight is to stop eating as much.
Well those answers are sympathetic! It's not a good idea to take diet pills as they have side effects and can mess up your metabolism for the future (ie you can probably eat what you want now and not gain weight but if you take them and come off them you'll have to watch all the time).

The best way to lose weight is the boring way - combine your basketball with low fat and low sugar foods and you should end up at your natural and healthy weight.

Are you sure you are overweight now? I wish I'd been given some advice when I was younger because when I was 14 I could eat what I wanted and stay what turned out to be my healthy and slim adult weight but then I started seriously undereating and it's caused a lot of problems since. It's taken 10 years to even things back out so if you're alright now I wouldn't mess with your weight.
I was always quite slim until I lost a lot of weight very quickly due to a serious illness.  Since that time I have had a lot of problems with weight control and cannot keep slim as my metabolism has been badly disrupted

Moral of this story is, never crash diet or take diet pills.  Eat very sensibly and exercise.  My 'diet' was not because I wanted to lose weight, but it has certainly changed my life.

secretspirit - I'd like to think my answer was sympathetic.

I know nothing about slimming pills, so thought my suggestion for advicegirl to visit her a GP was a sympathetic & sensible one.

For all medical questions, we strongly advise you to seek professional advice from your doctor or a healthcare professional.  Please do not rely on, or wait for, advice from Answerbank users.

How often do you play basketball and what is your diet like?  I'd agree with the previous answers, as long as you are eating healthily and exercising regularly I wouldn't worry about it too much.

Faddy diets, diets pills, quick solution weight loss, sickness and loads more influences can really mess up your metabolism, best advice is to lead a normal healthy life style or else you can damage yourself in the long run and make yourself ill.
