The skin right below my big toenail has two small bumps and a round circle of broken skin which is very itchy. There is no pain or no ingrown toenail. The bumps occurred 2 days ago along with the itch, I'm a little concerned as diabetes runs in the family, I will get a check up, but just wanted a heads up.

It's a fungal infection. No big deal, but see your GP for treatment options.

Really, how would I have got this, I've never had it before?
been swimming lately? Or using a public changing room? Definitely go and see your gp a.s.a.p.
If it only began a few days ago it might be a chilblain or a mosquito bite (wearing sandals at all?)

If you really want to make sure of what it isn't, spend a tenner on a tube of Lyclear from the pharmacy. Kills scabies and other little burrowers.
Bites? I get them on my feet and toes.
Go show your toe to the local pharmacist in the morning - they won't mind.

I think it is a bite, I was in the park for quite a while last Saturday and there were a lot of midges flying around and to be honest I've hardly felt a thing today, thanks to all for your answers x
