If its the same as I have had you are sat in a box with a pad to hold. They play sounds into your ear and you squeeze the pad when you ear a noise. It is done for one ear then the other.

Didn't take more than 15 minutes for the test. It was the 1 hour wait for my go that took the biscuit.

Oh i had one of them once, at least something like that!
They played different volume beeps in my ears and I had to say if I heard them or not.

Actually, it's an "audiogram", conducted by an audiologist, at least here in the U.S.
