Do you know roughly when he died and where he died?
Mrs. O. If you now your uncle's full name, and date of death, (or approximate date), and you know that he died in Plymouth, you can check for all the Funeral Directors in Plymouth, till you find the one that dealt with the cremation. Once you have found the right one, it is normal that that Funeral Director arranges the committal of the deceased person's ashes. If the family were not churchgoers, the ashes would be buried in a public non-denominational cemetary. In either case the Funeral Director would know whether it was a cemetary attached to a church, or a public cemetary. He also would know the number of the plot where the ashes are interred. Even in a public cemetary, the interment of ashes can not be done by members of the public, and only by a firm of Funeral Directors. Hope this information helps with your search. Good luck. Schutz.
Sorry - my message was intended for MrTattoo. Apologies Mrs. O.
No probs schutzengel.
I was waiting for a reply from mrtattoo and i was goint to sugest the same as you.
Also, you could contact your local council (Cemetaries office) who should be able to give you the information.
Good luck.
When I was trying to find where my great-aunt was buried I contacted the Burials Dept at the local council - they e-mailed me with the details the same day.
To find my dead father (never met him), I knew where he lived and phoned the Registrar of Births and Deaths. I got a copy of the death certificate (5or 10 I think) but then wished that I hadn't as the cause of death was Multifocal Dementia......LOL...I suppose that explains a lot. LOL
