Well, today is Saturday. This all started slowly feeling unwell on Wednesday. Thursday I felt worse, coughing and sore throat bit of a temperature. Friday I was just wrecked, sore head, throat, coughing temperature and I was sick. Today I feel just the same as yesterday but I have not felt sick today. How long will this last? I have been unable to get out of bed today or yesterday, when will things get better??

Poor you k8 but I would think that by tomorrow you will begin to feel a little better, it's very debilitating. Drink plenty of fluids.
I had a similar thing a couple of weeks ago but was sick for a couple of days. It took me a week to feel like doing much and I've only just got back to feeling normal now so you probably have 3 or 4 days of it yet I'm afraid. Just rest, drink as much as you can and let it take its course - there's not a whole lot you can do. Hope you start to feel better soon though
xx
You don't have the flu.

If it were the flu you wouldn't even want to be looking at your computer screen, let alone be able to.

You have a cold. You'll be feeling better by Monday

I hope your right!
my kids have had the flu for over a week and like yourself i started feeling unwell on wednesday by friday i went to the docs he confirmed the flu and told me to take paracetamol and lintus.i still feel sh1tty today my head feels as though its going to explode and i have sores on my tongue.
The old "rule of thumb" for a bad cold is three days coming, three days there, and three days going:)
Are you male? If you are then it's Man Flu, but if you're female it's just a regular heavy cold.

Depending on how healthy you are generally, the worst of a cold should pass in 5 days, but to be rid of all the symptoms, could take up to two weeks plus.

As Ethel said, you don't have flu. if you did, you wouldn't be able to get out of bed.
mine has taken over 2 weeks to go away, I havent even been able to play golf :(
Well I think you do have flu, although the flu normally comes on quickly - a cold develops more gradually so those you say you have a cold could, possibly, be right..

However, the reason I think it could be flu is the nausea you experienced. I fell ill with flu on Wedneday, spent all thursday and yesterday in bed, only getting up to go to bathroom, and today I'm feeling slightly better.. not much but enough to eat and sit in bed with my laptop.

The reliable way of telling though, is the 10 note test... if you've got a cold you'd find the energy to pick it up.. if you have the flu you wouldn't... apparantly...
stewey, my most recent colds have been one day coming, one day there and one month going. No kidding, I'm coughing for a month afterwards and driving everyone nuts. It all depends on the particular bugs going round. If you had norovirus you'd know all about it, but it doesn't sound as if k8 has that (I assume from her name that k8 is female and doesn't have manflu). On the other hand, colds don't leave you unable to get out of bed; so it may be flu of some sort, just not the vomiting sort that's been in the news.
My flu lasted 3 weeks and i lost over a stone in weight. I now know the difference between a cold and the flu and it wasn't nice. Hope you feel better soon.
definately a man aren't we?
The last flu I had lasted 2 -3 weeks and was followed by pleurisy . It's true , with flu you couldn't type because you can't really move much . I hope it's a cold or a bug that will see you ok soon x
Ethel is right, nobody seems to have a cold nowadays they always say they've got flu, I really feel for you as a cold can be awful but as others have said you wouldn't be able to do anything if you really had flu, I wish you well anyway and hope you get over your cold soon.
my ragnail has been playing me up for a day or two now
Gelda is right, i've only had proper flu once and i was so ill, i was in bed for more than a week with a raging temperature, complete with hallucinations and couldn't stay awake for more than 10 minutes at a time. I knew i was getting better when i managed to stay awake for 30 minutes at a time, but was achy and lethargic for about another fortnight after that. If you've got the flu you can tell if it's just a bad cold or not, because with the flu you feel so very ill, and even a bad cold is nowhere near as bad as proper flu. Hope you feel better in time for Xmas, K8.

I had the flu about a month ago so I feel your pain! The only thing that worked for me was paracetomol, simple linctus, Halls soothers and plenty of liquids. And lots of rest! Get well soon.
