Hi. I've been seperated from my husband for over a year now, (we married in June 2006). When we first seperated I sought the help of a solicitor as he had locked me out of the (shared ownership) marital home. This has since been rectified, however he has now moved his new girlfriend and her daughter into our house.
Now, whilst I don't have any problem with this (I left him, so I'm not upset about this in the slightest, and also the daughter is partially sighted and they have recently been made homeless) I am aware that there may be implications for me if I leave this situation to go on without divorcing my husband.
I really want to get divorced from him, he has left me in an awful lot of debt and I just want a fresh start.
My question is; how quickly can I divorce him and is it likely to cost me the thousands of pounds that my solicitor quoted me? The legal team have now got everything ready to go to court to apply for a divorce but I'm not sure how long this will take. I'd been told it's really difficult to get divorced for 5 years however I have evidence to prove how unreasonable he's been whilst together and also seperated (but this would mean using a solicitor to prove this in court wouldn't it?)

Any advice at all would be sincerely welcome.

Thank you,

Cherie
