5 years ago i fractured a vertebrae in my neck, which healed and fused to another, i have had pains and numbness every 6 months (which last around 3 weeks) down my righ shoulder and arm and often have a stiff neck, this hasnt happened for about a year though. Last night laying in bed if i slowly turned my neck from side to side i could hear grinding in my neck, do you think something is seriously wrong there?

Suffering the same as you welshwil. I have cervical spondylitis as at present am experiencing a real flare up. I have had this for the past 4O+ years (since I was 18) and I can always hear grinding in my neck. I am turning my head now and can hear it!

Grinding noises are usually down to wear and tear and are not a lot to worry about. You probably noticed it more at night when it was quiet and quite honestly now you have noticed it you will continue to hear it!

However, if you are worried please see your GP.

I am off to an osteopath on Friday for treatment on my present 'flare up'.

thanks, im only 30 though, how could it be wear and tear
Age is not always relevant welshwil. There are other factors which cause wear and tear as well - sport, work, posture, etc. Your fracture in your neck will have had effect on other vertebrae as well.

As I said, I have suffered since I was 18!
