Can anyone recommend an 'el cheapo' conditioning hair treatment that works (ie. anything in the region of �10) ??

I cam't remember exactly what it's called but I got a yellow sachet jobby from Superdrug, it's something to do with beer. Linco I think the brand is. and it was really really good. My hair is dark, thick and naturally curly so it was in pretty bad condition through straightening, wax, etc. So if it worked for me I'm sure it'll work for you! It's worth a go anyway it's only about 99p. And it smells gorgeous.

theres a 3 min conditioning treatment by Aussie that i use and it smells gorgeous!

I third the Aussie 3 minute stuff. I have to take drugs that really dry your hair and this stuff is brilliant.

John Frieda Beach Blonde Kelp Help and Charles Worthington Q&A Frizz are both quite good and about a fiver a pot.

Go to your local hairdressers,or even better a school or hair& beauty, they will do a conditioning treatment for you around a fiver. My hair was in bad condition, cos I'm addicted to straiteners. Once a month has done the trick.

"got 2 be so smooth" (organge tub in boots) good for straight hair. Aussie 3 minute miracle is great too.

All these expensive conditioners may be a waste of money. Buy a cheap conditioner and leave it on your hair overnight with clingfilm around your head and the condition of your hair will improve. Also try using a leave in conditioner eg. Dove as this helps protect the hair from further damage. I had a haie disaster not long ago and my hair was in a state like straw to be precise but after lots of tlc and regular trims its back on the road to recovery!!!!

I've been using expensive hair salon type conditions for my dry frizzy hair for quite a few years (stuff like Aveda) and love them, and don't really like "supermarket" conditions as they tend to leave a residue which aggravates my frizz longer term, but in an effort to cut down spending I bought some of that TRESemme which has been highly advertised, got it buy 1 get 1 free from Tesco's, deep down I expected it to be rubbish but it was as good as the expensive stuff I've been using and lot better than all the other supermarket stuff. Can't speak for the shampoo though, only tried the conditioner for colour treated hair.
