Hi

I am wondering if there are any distance learning, short course etc option for studying Beauty Therapy.

I am British, but do not spend any time in the UK, as I travel, working as i go along. I mailny spend the winters working in the French Alps and summers backpacking etc. Therefore a standard NVQ college course is out of the question as im never in one place for more than 6 months. Does anyone know of anyway i can study via online or distance learning courses? I have seen many on the internet but wondered whether these would be recognised by potential employers? Obviously the practical side of things is the most important, which is my main concern about these types of study? Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks

Hi Projecthex,

I'm afraid you need 'hands on' experience. Some employers at beauty salons require you demonstrate your teqnique at say: Massage or : Facial or: Waxing and a whole lot more.

How would you know the wax was too hot?

How would you know what effleurage, pettrisage and cupping was and how would you demonstrate that?

You need to attend the courses to be shown how to 'slave' the leads for certain electrical impulse treatments. Should the sponges be wet?

You can certainly learn your anatomy and physiology from your armchair though.

Out of interest, since you're in one place for 6 months at a time???

do a course in the country you're in lol...

Best of Luck.
