Sore itchy ears?

In the last couple of days both of my ears have become really sore and itchy especially my right and on the edge of my ear it feels swollen. It feels like I've been biten but I haven't. From time to time my ears burn up . I rarely where earings. Is this an allergy or something else? Thanks
