You dont need power to be a good puncher, trust me you want to learn how to fight do fast reaction kind of situations and you'll notice your increase of quickness. However, grab a dumbell and lay down in bed on your stomach, extend arm backwards with weight on both arms and will build up your punching muscle.
Try rubber tubing or springs to build up endurance and make sure to get ur hip behind it when u throw it....
I know it's horrendously cheesy and possibly also slightly embarrassing if you're male, but Kate Lawler's Cardio Combat workout DVD has a whole section on punching exercises which are really good and feel like they're really building up strength in your arms, and other arm exercises as well which must help. Imagining someone you don't like whilst doing them is very effective.
Well people tend to work up the biceps and triceps and they dont work the back of their arms which helps alot. Try doing the opposite to a press-up. Have your back to the floor, put your arems behind you and do the press-up thing. It also helps people with really flabby arms. 'I pray they read this'
