Yuk.
Yeth - don't eath lemonth for a few weekth
Lots of mouth wash... preferably an antiseptic one. Rinse your mouth out a lot. I had mine pierced twice, the first was not accupierced and took a long time to heal, the second was accupierced and had virtually no swelling and was ready for the second bar with 5 days.

Tomorrow you will wake up with a very sore throat, where the swelling has spread. If you can take it, take some ibuprofen.

If you notice any bumps forming around the piercing site, phone your piercer for advice. Do not just take it out because you could end up closing an infection up.

On the other hand if your tongue swells so much that the stud is cutting into to your tongue then take the bar out!

Thanks hun, got the mouthwash!! Did you use salt water as well???

Fingers crossed it'll all go fine!!
I had mine done about 9 monthes ago. Just make sure your mouth stays really clean. Avoid alcohol or alcohol based mouthwash because it can slow down the healing process as I found out lol... Mine took about 2 and a half weeks to heal and I couldnt eat so lost a stone!! Don't hesitate to go and see the person who pierced it if you have any problems.. I went back to mine about 3 times because I got so paranoid. It'll feel so much better when you have the smaller bar in! Salt water is good too and eat alot of icecream!

Am liking the idea of the losing weight thing...going on holiday in 2 weeks!!!

But thanks for that Emma! Can't wait for the smaller bar!!
lol yeah it was good but not healthy so remember to try and eat. Even if its just yoghurt and icecream... I lived on Tesco Finest Raspberry Yoghurt Icecream... mmmmmmmmm!!

Yep i have a tub of raspberry ripple ice cream in the freezer!!

Not looking forward to the brushing of the teeth that's gotta happen in a min!!
Tell me something, just curious, why would anyone want a tongue piercing, especially having to go through all that discomfort, is it just because it's fashionable. Perhaps I'm getting old! I can understand ears because they're on show but tongues no!
Question Author
Not because it's fashionable gelda, i'm not the kind of person who folows such trends!! I just really love tongue piercings, ust like i love belly button ones, in fact i ove most!! - that's it really. Have wanted it for years but was only brave enough yesterday!!!
I can understand jungle folk doing it, as they have been doing it for many many years, but civilised humans in a civilised world!!!!!!! They`ve got to be retards or of their rails.
word of warning- don't ever get complacent about it either. My daughter (19) had hers done about a year ago, and accidently swallowed the bar bit of it the other day when eating her tea.

Still- it provided the rest of the Boo household with alot of laughs.

I'll remember that Boo...will keep making sure it's screwed on tight!!!

Shylock...i don't remember asking for opinions.
oooo ha. I got mine got I like how it looks and to lose weight. I only kept it because its fun to play with when you're bored
because*!
Had mine pierced 11 years ago! It hurt for quite a few days, you need to keep your mouth clean, salt water is a good idea especially after eating anything!
No talking for about 3-4 days, at all!! Trust me it will help recovery! And no kissing, oral sex at all for 2 weeks, or you can get infected, the human mouth has more bacteria in it than a dogs!! But dont kiss ur dog either xx
My husband had his done b4 i met him too, 11 yrs ago, and we r still happily pierced. Look after it now, and it will stay for years.
Mine had come undone a few times, but i never have swallowed it, make sure its done up properly at least once a week to avoid mishaps. good luck xx
Can I ask why??!!

Why go through all this pain for what??!!

What good is a tongue piercing?
Lol! Suppose it's just another way of decorating the body - something which man's been doing for thousands of years. If people want to have their tongues pierced - fair enough - but I prefer a natural look, on both males and females.
Take it out !!
Appreciate it's your own choice but they look awful.
Not good for the teeth or roof of your mouth.
I have x-rayed numerous tummys to look for a swallowed ones.
Piercing has come along way since 11 years ago. I know because the first time I had it done was 13 years ago and the second time, 2 years ago. As you shouldnt get blunt force trauma you should be able to talk and eat on the day you get it pierced.
