EdT every time - aftershave is for chavs.
And tends to go stale after a while - unless it's a very, very expensive one!
Aftershave is far more concentrated, with a higher level of alcohol base. If it is slapped on after a shave (teeth marks in the basin anyone?) it enters the pores, and the smell will linger quite well.

Eau de toilette is usually a lighter base, and is less stressful to apply, so you can wear more, and apply it more as a perfume, with an overall spray rather than targeting the face.

I think both have pluses and minuses, although on balance, as a wimpy type, I don't realy go for blasting a handful oof 'Rotten Rigging - The Smell For MEN' all over my face and getting dots before my eyes as a try not to pass out with the agony - I personally use 'Cool Water; EdT which smells great, and is subtlke enough to refresh if I feel like it.
I'd much rather use ladies smellies or Body Shop sprays, not behind the ears, but on the wrists. Chanel No 5 is magical.

The best way to leave your face fresh-smelling is to use a facewash, my favourite is the Garnier cucumber one.

The best aftershaves are Davidoff Cool Water and YSL, but aftershave is a bit poofy and it's unfair to colleagues to breeze in at 9am smelling like a tart's boudoir.
