A mate told me yesterday she had read that over 80% of adults have tried drugs at one time or another. Do you reckon this is true? I cant decide if it is cos apart from workmates just about every person I know has tried something at least once. This would make it about 95%

Are you one of the 80%?

I'm not sure, it depends who they have surveyed. Mostly everyone I know has at least tried something at one time or another, but I can't imagine my nan's generation having tried that much. Not that I think "our generation invented sex / fun, etc" but that I don't know what drugs would have been available in 1930's England / Scotland / Wales for them to have tried it, and by the 60's my grandparents had their children and wouldn't have been into drugs.

Also, my dad, who was brought up in the counrtryside in the 60s, still is not entirely sure of the difference between canabis and cocaine or crack. In his eyes weed and pills are one and the same not that he is anti-drugs or antyhing, but that he doesn't understand that some drugs are more dangerus than others.
Amongst my age group it's not the norm to have not tried any drugs. Off the top of my head of friends in the 18 -35 age bracket that I have maybe 5 percent haven't at least smoked a joint (its a very dull town and drugs have always been cheap here mind).

Am I one of those 5 percent? No!

Reverandfunk, that link is useless amongst the antidrugs group on here. Skreech has posted it and people then start on about "why does alcohol have to be brought into the debate, we're talking about illegal drugs?"
I as you probably do happen to think its a very valid point coming from a family of many alcoholics.

Soulette it has been discussed many times on here and the majority of people dont understand that alcohol as a drug kills more people than all of the others combined and causes more heartache and misery.

Go out and have 12 pints of stella or go out and have a pill and drink diet coke.

I know which one I'd choose every time.
and saves you, ummm...... well about 30 quid.

I think its odd how some people can think the law is wrong on some things, say national speed limit, or until recently hunting with dogs, or prostitution but cant possibly be wrong about drugs. The law needs a massive shake up to truly reflect the effects of each substance on society. That could mean alcohol being banned in the long run and I think thats why they don't do it.
and wouldnt it be nicer to buy a gram of coke without worrying that your funding some evil columbian drug lords pocket lol

Hi nat :) I too have no idea what drugs were around in the 30's but I would have loved to have been around in the 60's rather than just being born then lol
