The person below has said that she feels her child has Tourettes. Many people self diagnose themselves thesedays and I feel it is an excuse or coverup for inexcusable behavior. If a child is misbehaving then that child must have ADHD, if a child is swearing then that child must have tourettes. Why can't parents take responsibility for their children, take them in hand and sort them out. Tourettes indeed!

i dont think the child is swearing.

There is a certain amount of parents who put bad behaviour down to ADHD and some who may say a rude child has tourettes but I doubt very much that is the case with the poster you mention.
With all due respect, the person in question never mentioned bad behaviour from their child or swearing. I know nothing about Tourettes, but I'm assuming that there are quite a few characteristics to it, not just the ones we all assume?

Before we start accusing people of being bad parents, can we please get our facts straight?
The difference between a child who swears and someone with tourettes syndrome are very ovbvious. The poster mentioned throwing arms and legs out and ticks, not a sign of bad behaviour.

Attention seeking then. Either way I believe that all of these "illnesses" are excuses for some form of either bad behaviour on the childs part, or bad parenting.
And this is your medical opinion then is it? I'm sorry you forgot to mention which hospital you practice from Doctor?
ive known the most polite well mannered child suffer from ticks and involuntary movements. I know that this was not for attention seeking purposes.

Perhaps you have this opinion due to personal experience, are you an attention seeker and perhaps see part of your bad habits in children suffering with Tourettes?
Question Author
It is not a medical opinion, but it is my opinion, which I believe to be true.
Question Author
How you think can summise from my questions and answers that I am an attention seeker is very strange. I think that it is all a form of either bad parenting, bad behavior or attention seeking.
then i sincerely hope you never have a child who suffers with either condition as they wont get any sympathy or help from you by the sound of it.
I've said it before and i'll say it again. My grandma (God rest her soul!) used to say often.....

"some opinions are like underwear, not for public viewing"

No they would not. But then again my child would feel secure in the home and not feel the need to make illnesses up for attention.

i did not say you were an attention seeker, i asked if perhaps this was why you thought a child would do such a thing.
Question Author
I should be able to express my opinion as openly as I feel. I cannot help that alot of people are too ignorant to see the truth.
Question Author
All of these words and diagnosis's are glamourising bad behavior.
all children go through a phase of wanting attention. Theres no escaping that. A baby will learn to cry for attention from day one. How else do they get their feelings across? A toddler may throw tanrums for attention. All of them will do it to some extent.
Opinions are all very well and good if you can back them up with solid facts. Until you can do that, you just look a t!t.
Question Author
There are probably thousands of web links the same. They will not change my opinion. I know what I know and that is that.
