Say someone who had bulimia/anorexia had an operation. Would they be more at risk of complications than the average person, and if so, how much more at risk of complications would they be?

Well, it is a fact that both bulimia and anorexia affect the major organs of the body, making them very weak - e.g. the heart and kidneys especially. So any extra strain on the heart which has already been weakened by lack of vital minerals and salts - is not good and could well lead to complications.
Roughquest is right, I work with young people with these problems, and sometimes it's touch and go without even thinking about the effect an anathestic would have on them.
