candida is thrush! Its a fungal infection and is very common. it can be passed on through sex, but it is also common in women who have not had any relationship. another common cause is antibiotic therapy, as antibiotics not only kill off the bad bacteria but also the "natural flora" that is the good bacteria which ihhabit the vagina. When this happens the vagina is an ideal breeding ground (warm, damp etc) for fungal infections.
normally you treat it with good old canesten :) You can get a tablet to take, or you can use a combo of a pessary and cream for the external itching. if you're a bit strapped for cash though, live yoghurt should do the trick too, but you have to make sure it's the stuff with live bacteria in it, a pot of Muller light won't do the business

Thrush is a bacterial infection that can be cause be basically not having enough ventilation down there. Synthetic pants and tight trousers are a no no if you are trying to get rid of it, cotton knickers and baggy trousers till it's gone thank you please :)
i am a diabetes sufferer and get constant thrush

not to sure why but i think it is to do with the vaginal secretions being sweet or something like that

xx
it can be a real problem in menopause too, because of the change in secretions (or lack of them) in the vagina.
The contraceptive pill can also cause thrush. X X X :-)
