Right, I've decided, after ten years, I'm coming off the pill! Don't want a baby, but just realised I've been pumping my boby full of hormones & I think it's about time I went au naturel! Fnd out what the drug-free me is really like!!

Anyone done this? What should I expect? (Heavier periods? Painful PMT? etc etc...)

fairy, i did this 4 years ago because i was a smoker and 34 and had been on it for a long time! I can tell you what happened to me, sleepless nights, tantrums, potty training, lol my 3 year old was what happened!!!!!! LOL be careful!!
:-) I hasten to add, i gave up smoking and went back on it!
You may find that your cycles are not regular for a while.

Hmmmmmm... this isn't sounding like such a good idea now...
Hehe
lol, i was careless, silly i know. at my age i should have known better!
What alternative are you considering? For me the choices werent so great. I hate the thought of the coil !!!!

I've just been doing research on thw web... injection/implant etc are all out, coz they have hormones in, & that's what I'm trying to avoid... I wanna see who the real me is!! If I want hormones, I can keep taking the pill.

So, there's the coil... eeeeeewwwwww... or condoms... yawn...

Not great options! :-(
I know, the choice is not good is it?
i did this for a while a couple of years ago and hated being off the pill. just as others have said, I never quite knew when period would come, they were very painful and also i had quite a bit of 'gunk' coming away from me at various times throughout the month - obviously ovulating. Went back on and when discussed with doc he said no reason to come off it if not disagreeing with me. Like you I thought perhaps should not be putting stuff in system. My sister has been told to come off as is approaching 40 and until she gets husband to go for the snip will prob get coil fitted - friends have told her this is fine but excuse my ignorance i dont really know how it works - i take it you could still get the painful periods etc??

From researching on the web, it looks like the coil can make your periods heavier :-( & I don't really like the thought of it... sounds kinda nasty... makes me feel a bit queasy just thinking about it!!

It was docs suggestion to come off the pill to see if my mega-monster-mood-swings get any better.

Don't know what to do now!!!
Hiya fairy, I did this a good few years ago for a break, I have never been so nervous and paranoid, practically every other month I was worried I was pregnant. We used condoms, the doctor wouldnt recommend anything else at the time, I just didnt trust them and lost all spontaneity! Having said that I've friends who have never used anything else or prefer the coil.I'm on the mini pill now which I know wouldnt suit you because its still the hormones but its a little less so for me at my age (43) and I'm more relaxed.
