I know this should probably be in Health & Fitness but this is the site that most people seem to use.

Has anyone ever had that excruciating spasm-like pain in the rectum that lasts for about 10 or 15 seconds, and does anyone know the correct Medical term for it ?
I was diagnosed with an over active thyroid a couple of months ago and one of the symptoms was this pain and it used to last about half an hour.
There seem to be a lot of very knowledgeable people on here so I'm expecting great things from you, ( and of course the obligatory jokesters, Zorro, Ratter15, Bob the turkey & others)

I also have a pain in the arse, I call it mrs sparx, I don't know if this is the correct medical term though !!!
Does it happen when you are reading the AB answers (especially some) on here.
It's a spasm in the gluteous maximus. Does the pain go down the leg too as in Sciatica. Bit of Physio migh loosen you up.
Some things always just stay a pain in the bum tho........
Know what I mean?
Yes, it's called a butt plug, you filthy beast you!

Seriously though, have you been recommended loads of fibre in your diet? I bet that'll reduce it if not stop it altogether.

Champers, that place, as far as I'm concerned is for letting things out and NOT putting things in. I Eat all-bran daily so thats no problem.

Zac, No, that definitely is not the prob, like i said, that end is strictly for letting things out, not in.
Ray, it only got worse with my Thyroid problem, prior to that it was only once in a blue moon. I felt sure that someone else might have experienced it, . its o.k now I'm on the tablets.
You should have a chat with your doctor again though,it's ok for us to have a laugh, but it can't be nice, good luck.
