i had a fall about 3 weeks ago, fell onto my left side and really hurt my upper left arm and shoulder, it has gradually got better, although i still cant put my arm far enough up my back to fasten a bra or lift my arm higher than shoulder level. the last few days i have been getting pins and needles in my ring and small finger, any thoughts?. havent been to gp, knew nothing was broken, thought it would just get better on its own.

You haven't been to GP!! Why ? I think it time, don't you? soft tissue damage can often be more serious than a broken bone, get your butt to Doctor!!
Do go to your GP,the pins and needles sound as if you may have a trapped nerve, which could have been caused by the fall.
Or you could have a frozen shoulder..again caused by the nerve being trapped. In the meantime take a painkiller and apply a gel ....iboprufen stuff ,Traxam or Feldene ..but GP ..ASAP !
PLEASE go and see your doc. Itcould be a trapped nerve and the doc might refer you for physiotherapy or suggest that you see a chiropractor. This has been going on for 3 weeks so you really do need to get professional help. Good luck-I hope it starts getting better soon x
Definitely go and see your GP. If you have developed a frozen shoulder as a result of your fall (something which can often develop as a result of any kind of knock or trauma to the shoulder joint) , it will take about 18 months before full movement returns, as well as being incredibly painful in the meantime. You might just need some physiotherapy but it's an injury you shouldn't neglect as you may continue to suffer the after effects for a long time.
