Is drinking two litres of diluted orange juice a day as good for your body as drinking two litres of water? I ask as it seems to turn my pee a yellow colour which i thought meant you were dehydrated, but could it just be the colour of the juice causing it? Thanks

Hi Rufio,
All the mags and detox/ healthy eating literature I've read (many!!!) always suggest either plain, mineral or spring water or flavouring it with slices of lemon/orange or lime is the best for you.... I prefer all three, with ice. I think it has something to do with the chemicals in the juice itself... either way, it certainly sounds pretty bad that you're drinking 2litres of diluted juice and its making your pee that colour... seems as though it hasn't gone through your system properly!!

Anyway, take it easy. XXX

Lol thanks jeanette. I dont actually drink the two litres a day, its just the fact that whenever i go to the loo after ive been drinking it its that colour and got me wondering. Tap water for me from now on methinks!
in terms of hydration,

2 litres of water - is two litres of water,

regardless of what you have added to it.

the orange may contain colourings or beta carotene and both can turn you pee a dark orange colour.

some foods such as beetroot, carrots etc can alter the colour too, ut is nothing to do with not going through your system properly.

if you are worried ask the doc but i don't think its anything to worry about

perhaps try adding lemon or lime cordial instead
What you drink can affect the colour of your urine. The same goes for food & your poo.
