hi there, hope someone can help. today me and my boyfriend got slightly carried away and ended up having sex without a condom. thing is, i'm on the pill (dianette) and i'm due for my period on saturday. i haven't missed a pill or been ill or anything, but i'm still a bit worried. should i get the morning after pill or would i be ok with just my pills? it says in the packet that no other contraception is needed with it. any reassurance would be greatfully received :) thank you!

If you have taken the pill correctly then there is very little chance that you could get pregnant. Talk it through with your GP or pharmacist if you still wish to take the MA pill and they can advise if its necessary
I don't understand why you were using a condom with your boyfriend as well as being on the pill.
There's still the risk of STDs if you don't use a condom dot

dot, you know, sexually transmitted diseases and all that...

Starflakes, I agree with redcrx completely. Don't panic, give your doctor a call and see what he/she says about the MAP. But I would suspect it'd be just that - don't worry.

I used to be paranoid about getting pregnant and did the same as you, protecting at both ends so to speak. I no longer do it but I also have a daughter. With time you'll be less anxious about it, though I am not sure if it's a good thing or not. One thing I know if you're not ready to be a mother just yet, then there is nothing wrong with dotting all the i's and crossing all the t's.

I've done the double protection thing too... didn't want kids and didn't want any STDs... lol... still don't!

Very sensible starflakes, but you probably have VERY LITTLE to worry about :0)

There is little chance of pregnancy at this stage of your cycle even without contraception.

Don't worry.
i do get that a condom is a good idea i really do, but if they are in an intimate relationship then why not go to the STD clinic and get checked out anyway? I think kids need to do this now to be able to ever have a trusting future relationship. Imagine that they are together 40 years? At what point would they deem it safe to have unprotected intercourse? And what about in the future if they do want kids? get checked out i say.

I got pregnant whilst opn the pill (ovranette).

thank you everyone for your answers. yes we were using condoms as well as my pill just to be on the safe side, not looking for any sprogs yet! also in the beginning i was only taking my pill to control my heavy periods and wasn't 100% sure about its use as a contraceptive. he has had an std check previously and he told me it was clear, and he is my first sexual partner. i might get him to have another one just so i can be sure :) but just for now we wanted to be on the safe side because as you can see, i'm a bit of a worrier :)
i'll try to get to the walk in centre today and see what they say. that's if its not full with people with broken fingernails and paper cuts ;)
