dan.....your far to wise to be listening to this sh1t!!
rugeleyboy, that Marylin Manson is the same....kids have taken what he sings about as real and topped themselves or set up some kind of cult, usually to do with the occult.
rugeleyboy. I could'nt agree with you more. My daughter now age 23 used to listen to such depressing music, dressed like a goth and went to goth concerts. My hubby and I could see the effect this was having on her at the tender age of 17. Thankfully nothing horrid happened and she came through that phase but for many its turned into a much more serious and devasating issue. My daughter has said many times just how much she was influenced by this type of music.
I got this as a present off my kids, I didn't realise at first, just liked his voice on the awards show, so asked for it. It's so miserable, and all about wanting to be a girl, even the cover of the CD has a dead friend on it. Wish they'd have gone for Jack Johnson now. Oh try the Dresden Dolls they'll have you on Prozac!
BEZ, MM is one of the morons I was thinking of but could'nt remember his name. Thanks.

Now I know someone who has it, you might be able to solve a problem, on "I am a bird now" is he scared of "them aeroplanes" or something else? Cheers.

stick with good old rock and classical (not mixed) and u cant go far wrong, unless of coarse its all that heavy metal stuff which, in moderation, is okay but let it work its twisted magic and you'll be hacking up your neighbours b4 you know it....
Sorry mean't to say on "Hope there's someone" on I am a bird now.
Dan couldn't agree more......I'll stick to me Motown and 70's at least you can sing along to them :)

dont get me wrong.........i am into any music and i thought i would download it and see what the fuss was about.......

well,it really is cr*p!!

rugeley, is that the band where the lead singer looks like Nadia from Big Brother.....I might be thinking of a different band.
wickey woo, wickey woo
...hmm and when I was a moody and depressed teenager I listened to the smiths, leonard cohen, joy division, jesus and mary chain... teenagers are full of angst, it's the law.....
I'm 50 this year, I own both Anthony and the Johnsons' albums and think they're wonderful. I'm a big fan of the Dresden Dolls too - I don't think either of the bands is particularly depressing.

When I was young, I remember listening to Leonard Cohen, Nico, Joy Division, Nick Drake and the most depressing album ever made, Lou Reed's Berlin - true music to slash your wrists too.

There's always been sad music - but no-one usually comments on it. Do you think Viennese music critics mused about the state of Austrian kids after Mahler wrote Die Totenkindenlieder?

rugeley, I don't particularly like anthony and the johnsons but I think it's generally a bit of myth that certain types of music make teenages suicidal or depressed. True it does happen occasionally (think Columbine) but for example, my husband loves Marilyn Manson, Korn, etc and has done since his teens but he's a well-rounded man training to be a teacher. I happen to really like Joy Division, a band traditionally seen as depressing but I find some of Ian Curtis's lyrics really uplifting.

If you're going to generalise then you could also look at the effect dance music and culture has on kids taking E and LSD.

Still, it wouldn't do for us to all like the same thing!

i like one, i downloaded 3 or 4 but i cant think which one it is.... its quite an upbeat one tho! my daughter always skips it in the car...

i saw him on jonathan ross and liked his voice cos it was different. think i'd best stick to robbie and my power ballads! :)

rugeleyboy- how old are you?
