Just been having a debate about this why is it when your fast asleep we dont fall out of bed. My partner and i both roll around a lot onto each others side but dont go the other way and fall out if that makes sense. I said to him its cause hes made a dip in the bed and for me it would be like rolling up hill lol hes not having none of it so can someone advise me on this.

Go to bed then SE7EN
Twas a joke tigilou,

I think the static electricity caused by your rolling keeps you magnetically stuck in bed, drawing you back in when you are on the verge of falling out.

lol it was taken as a joke. one of us is bound to fall out tonight lol

I like your theory tigilou, I'm with you on that one :-)

you're not totally unconscious when you sleep. If you're turning over and you feel the edge of the mattress underneath you, you stop and move back. Your idea about rolling uphill also makes sense - it's not steeply uphill, but it still offers more resistance to your body than rolling towards the middle.
I have actually fallen out of our 6' bed several times - no idea why.

My daughter fell out of her bed around her birthday for about six times when she was younger, we never knew why but she hasn't since

I think it's to do with your subconcious, most people can climb the stairs of their house in the dark and not fall, or when I commuted into London many people dropped off to sleep( self included) and would wake up at the same place, most thought we were subconciously counting the number of sets of points crossed, hope it helps

I have fallen out of bed twice, both times out of a top bunk. It's quite funny, as you wake up on the way down, shortly before impact. have landed on the head both times, which may explain a few things....

I fell out of bed a couple of weeks ago.

Not funny.

I fell out of bed for the first 6 years of my life!!! haha You get trained.. and one word of advice DONT GET BUMK BEDS... I would wake up just before my face hit the floor (SMACK) that was no good..
