What are the most effective excercises for getting rid of a large, protruding tum? I'm quite happy with the rest of my body, but having had two children, I would like to have a firmer, flatter stomach and not look like an egg on legs!

Sit ups are supposed to be the best excercise for the tum .. but I found that when I lost weight the tum went away.

Thank you WendyW. It's not weight that's the problem, it's just that I need to sort me poor old belly out!!!
I agree, sit-ups are good. Have you tried a Slider (Little 4-wheeled box with a handle on each side)? They are very good. Or an electronic toning belt?

Shelley, the Slider sounds interesting. Could you please tell me where you can buy them, and how much they cost? As much as I'd like a toning belt, I just don't have the pennies!!
Hi Nicola I got a slendertone last week off ebay for 15! I think the problem with post baby flab is that the stomach is stretched and sometimes the stomach muscles split so you can never get rid of it. I exercise everyday and i am a size 10 but i have still have a baby belly!! : ( Yet to try my slender tone yet! I suppose giving up the beer would help.....

all of the suggestions are worth giving a go but its also worth bearing in mind that the stomach muscles tone up from the inside and work outwards so dont give up on any one of these ideas if you dont get quick results!!! good luck!!
Sit ups are good for firming the stomach up but can cause stress to the back .Why not try Yoga or Pilates they cause less stress to your body, one easy exercise is just to hold your stomach in for as long as you can ,when shopping or doing housework, and try and improve your posture by holding yourself up straighter at least its free and the only thing you need with any exercise is willpower so save yourself some money and getsome
