Long story short, she said it wasn't clear, and that I need a further scan and a biopsy. She then said it looked like bursitis but they weren't sure. I said isn't bursitis meant to be very painful, and also red & inflammed. She said yes. Well I don't have any of that - it's not red, it's not sore at all, and it isn't even on the elbow joint, it's above it. She admitted I was correct with all of that. Sooooo, could it still be C or not? Well yes it could be but we need to rule it out with a further scan. Thought that's what the MRI was for??....

So.... no further forward, bottom line is that they haven't a clue 🙄🙄🙄

Oh dear Smow after all that discomfort then all the angst before and after and yet still left hanging... my sincere sympathies for you Xx

Hopefully the biopsy will sort out a diagnosis.

Good luck with it.

Thanks guys - tbh I think they just don't have a clue, but I genuinely thought that the MRI showed the whole area in detail....?

Hi again just bringing it back to attention for you Smow as someone on now might be able to enlighten you a bit.

I am not aware of your MRI? I gather it's your arm, but why? Have you had any other tests for the problem?

At least they are being thorough Smow, I am sure they will get to the bottom of it soon

It's a shame you are having another wait, Smow.  Maybe they will do a CT scan next as well as biopsy which will surely give a diagnosis.  Did she give you another appointment?

I hope you don't have to wait too long for another scan, Smow. If they only knew how much time and energy some people struggle to give up to get to these nerve-wracking appointments. Such a disappointing set back, only to go all through it again! Hope it all goes better next time. All we want is a little peace of mind 😊

Thanks Ark x

For those that weren't aware a few weeks ago I had a solid lump appear on my arm literally overnight - it's on my inner right arm & about 2 inches above my elbow. It's solid, and about an inch & a half in circumference. Doesn't hurt at all but it's very obvious. One day I was showering and it 100% wasn't there, the nxt morning was! Left a week to see if it went down, which it didn't, saw doc who sent me for ultrasound, he rang with results and said it needed an MRI, hence one I've just had......

Question Author

Today she said they will ring in nxt day or so for an app for me to have another scan and a biopsy.

Thanks, Smow. Hope all is well

bursitis is very painful - very painful so hope you will feel good soon

Good luck with everything, Smow. x

Question Author

Thanks JJ, WW,OG,Barry, Rosetta, Hazlinny,Patsy, Arky, - did I miss anyone?? lol.

Yes I thought bursitis was meant to be incredibly painful too, so I'm 100% certain it's not that. Am frustrated as I was absolutely sure the MRI would give a very detailed picture of exactly what was inside this lump, and therefore give me an answer. At least they are doing all this as quickly as they can and not leaving me for weeks and weeks inbetween tests I guess.

I'm sorry to see you're having to lump it with this problem, Smow & hope you get a clear diagnosis quickly x

Google says bursitis is more likely to be a dull achey pain than a sharp severe one, so don't give up on that diagnosis yet (though it doesn't really sound right).

Hi L-I-K & Jno. Ahhh , is it Jno,tho  still doesn't sound right. This just looks so bizarre - it's as if someone's got a solid gold ball, sliced it in half and slid it under the skin. Like I said it's about 2 inches above the elbow. ( and if one more doctor asks me "are you SURE you haven't whacked your arm??"........)

I've just seen this Smow. So sorry you're still having to hang around waiting for answers.

I'm surprised a biopsy wasn't the first investigation. It's taken with a needle.

My guess is that it'll prove to be a harmless cyst. I've one or two of those, but much smaller and ignorable.
