SCABIES.

I'd heard it was on the rise, when OH was admitted to Scarborough hospital, someone muttered that they had scabies there. Weeks later, after holding and helping my darling man (who had an itchy rash) I appear to have a massive attack of scabies. Scratching myself until bruises turn bloody.

I've got the medical cream to spread all over myself. I've done the  first treatment - but still itch horribly and leave bloody patches from scratching.  I'm using soothing creams from GP.  It seems that I need another whole body application of specific cream next Wed. (but I can't be sure I've hit every inch - unless a male neighbour would oblige!).

It's horrible.  Has anyone had this, got over it and can give me any tips please?

This is another thing you can do without, Jourdain.

Don't forget to hot wash your bedding and towels.

I would be tempted to nag my GP for the single dose oral treatment Ivermectin.

The itching can continue for a week or two after treatment.

Thanks barry, someone else has mentioned Ivermectin.  Apparantly the little sods can't live off the body for more than 3 days max..

it's awfully hard to not miss a bit of your body when there's only you.

Funeral 28/6 at 2.00 p.m., by the way - if anyone cares to give a thought. x

Ta, Buen - I really didn't need this..... it's the old 'when she's down is the time to kick her'.   Had enough. Daresay I'll survive somehow , as usual.

Thanks all for info.. x

Poor you, Jordain. Not fair! You've been through enough. I was reading the cream treatment is effective after 24 hours. Hope you soon get rid of it and wishing you inner strength to withstand the itching! x

Oooh it does sound awful. It's the last thing you need right now. Hope it clears up soon.

I'll be thinking of you on the 28th. I hope the funeral gives you comfort.

Don't fret, it will pass. This and many other unpleasantries are being brought in by unfettered immigration. TB is now returned to Europe. What medical checks are being made on immigrants I don't know.

I hope you find a 'male neighbour to hit every inch', I'd volunteer, but it's a long way to travel. 😃

You really could have done without this at this moment, but as the bard said,

“When sorrows come, they come not single spies. But in battalions!” (Hamlet)

Go bless. K.

Some years ago my Mum caught scabies in hospital and I went there to find out more about it. The nurse at the desk whispered, "We've all got it!"

Later I caught it and was prescribed what I think was some kind of insecticide which I had to cover mysef with, totally, except for the eyes. That did the trick but I think whatever it was is now a banned substance.

Oh dear Jourdain. Sending love (but not a hug!!!) to you. Keep strong.
