My doctor is changing me from monthly  ibandronic acid tablets  for pre-osteoporosis to an annual injection. I'm not sure of the name if it yet. I have looked at the side effects which are similar to the tablets and the one that  worries me the most is 'necrosis of the jaw'. Is anyone on this medication that can give me any information of the own experience.

Is it Reclast?

It may be barry1010. I have only had a quick telephone consultation so far and can remember the name of it.

Not personally - but my sister is on annual injections.  She's just started with them and is coping fine.

Can't remember the name of it

Thank you jourdain2 - how long has your sister been on it?

Download this document and read Section 5.  You'll see that osteonecrosis of the jaw is "is an extremely rare jaw problem in which there is delayed healing in the mouth usually following invasive dental procedures".

I doubt that you've got anything to worry about!

Thank you Buenchico. I have a loose tooth and have an appointment with the dentist today to decide when/if to take it out

She had her first injection last autumn, no side effects or problems so far.
