I agree that food should be equally accessible for those with allergies but as buyers, at what point do we draw the line with expecting shops to check?

Maybe it would have been more reasonable if they had agreed on say just buying 4 different types of sweets rather than having the shop check them all - where do you draw the line at  with a pick and mix- 10, 20, 50?

That being said maybe its a lesson to the shop keepers to be more in the ball with allergies/labelling etc

If you have serious allergies & are unsure about a product - DON'T BUY IT!

ps. don't rely on a shop assistant on minimum wage to give you good advice

I'm with davebro. Don't even go into the shop. Does the girl really need those sweets?

Just say no!

If in doubt, leave it out.

Just say no.

What a waste of ink.

Mrs. Bacon seems to be a bit of a tool.

If it was my child I wouldn't touch anything if I wasn't 100% sure.

Maybe the manyfacturers should have to provide stickers for this type of product to stick on the cabinet.

Oh yea I didnt notice that his name was Mr Bacon, imagine if she was allergic to pork too

It wouldn't be too difficult to have small QR codes for people to scan to read the information for themselves. Most folk have a smartphone and it must be easier to read it on a phone than the tiny print on packaging

Ultimate the shop employee needs to respect the valued customer so the attitude isn't acceptable.

That stated the customer request needs to be reasonable. While it would be nice if details of each item were shown, where it isn't it is up to the parent or guardian to err on the safe side. And to write to head office if they have a suggestion regarding improving service to the consumer.

Thats a good idea Barry re the QR codes you could leave it eith the parents then to scan and decide for themselves
