Haven't cried for quite along time now but in the past two weeks I am crying with the pain in my legs and feet.  I did go to the doctor's but they just said it was plantar fasciiatis.

going u[p the stairs tonight I started to weep in the bathroom and have just finished in the bedroom.  I bought the shoes the podiatry people told to me to buy "trainer shoes" - have worn them for two days and stilll can cry.  don't know what more can I do  -

I feel for you, JJ. Don't know what to suggest, though

Phone the relevant self-referral number (under 'How to access the service') tomorrow to get access to the service of a podiatrist, who should be able to help you:
https://belfasttrust.hscni.net/service/podiatry/

https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/plantar-fasciitis/

I really hope that this website brings you some relief. Your post gives the impression that the doctor did nothing to help you.

Sorry you are suffering so much.
This is from the Mayo Clinic

Apply ice. Hold a cloth-covered ice pack over the area of pain for 15 minutes three or four times a day to help reduce pain and swelling. Or try rolling a frozen bottle of water under your foot for an ice massage.

i will do that tomorrow - feel too weak - also whilst sister is home is refusing carers coming in and therefore wants me to do what I can.  Like making a few dinners, washing some clothes. shopping and she has her funny ways of shopping.  She can't walk anymore only on the 3 zimmers in the house./  Part of me is angry about this cos   I knew this would happen - she says carers are "no good" - but some days she will realise she does need carers  I have looked after many people for years - if I tell the truth - she got away with it.  I am the youngest of the family and have been left with all the responsibilities.  I am getting so tired I had to hold onto her zimmer frame myself today bringing over dinner.  I am just fed up.

reading your posts yes I do have diabetes-  perhaps this is causing the pain.  Don't know what I would do without my oul car and my oul dog.  Lost without him.   When he goes I'lll go to.  My heart is breaking about everything.

Sorrty for whining  -

If you told your sister that you weren't well enough to help her, would she have the carers?

no scoprio   -   far far far too independent - was only home from hospital about 5 days and fell and hurt her arm = still no carers.

So sorry JJ.  If I was you I would tell your sister you need someone to help you so you are not in a position to help her.  She sounds incredibly selfish.  I have a helper for 1.5 hours a fortnight and she's lovely and does so much in the time she is here.  She did come highly recommended from friends.  Like you I feel I have to keep going for my little dog. I would hate for him to have to go back into Rescue.

I'll be interested to hear your answer to Scorpiojo's question.

I agree with what LB said. Please put your own health first, JJ.

So sorry to hear this jj. Please consider your own needs and try to get assistance for your sister (and for yourself if you think you need it) x

Jj - I know this sounds brutal, but sometimes it's the only way .....NO. You need a carer yourself, there's no way you can be someone else's. Your sister is blackmailing you with the family connection and you're suffering ....so the answer isn't simple, but it's still NO !!

I had plantar fasciitis about 4 years ago, very painful.  After looking online I did what was suggested - ice pack, stretching exercises, strapping and special insoles.  Within a week the pain had gone completely and has never returned.  So please look at the website.

When I had plantar fasciitis I was on crutches for 6 months before going to a private sports injury specialist.  Two visits and £80 later it was gone.

You have my sympathy, JJ.   I hope you get rid of it soon.

Sad to hear of your predicament JJ, can only send good wishes. But you do need to knock your sister's demands on the head (as nicely as possible). Helping others is a good thing but one needs to think of oneself also, and know when/where to draw the line.

Do get your own health issues checked out as soon as possible. And mention your sad state of mind too, while discussing with the doc.  Need to treat it all.

So sorry to hear about your troubles, JJ.

Have you thought about trying a tens machine for the pain? I know they don't work for everyone but IMO they're worth a try, both OH and I use them with positive results.

You should go back to the dr, it sounds like more than just pain.

Are you depressed?

Explain exactly what is the problem and yes you will have to explain to the receptionist what the issue is and you will have to be firm but you need to see a dr.

At my GP they have self-referral forms for Podiatry treatment at Reception.

Ask receptionist for form.

Fill in the form, give it back to receptionist and then Podiatry team will contact you to arrange appointment for treatment.

Hi JJ. Firstly I am so sorry about your pain situation. I have had plantar fasciitis myself and was reduced to tears many a time. Took a long time to heal but try the ice suggestion - it does provide relief. I also do think that you may possibly be suffering from a tad of depression or at the least you are probably very run down - your sister is being incredibly selfish and as others have said she is being completely unfair! She cannot possibly expect you dondo the work of a cater when you have your own health issues, you'll run yourself ragged! Simply put your foot down and tell her sorry but we ARE  having these carers in as they are needed!! And if she doesn't like it then that's just tough.

what smow said (except about putting your foot down, do that gently!) I had plantar fasciitis and the specialist gove me a steroid injection -he said it would hurt and it did for half a second, but from then on I was getting better.
