How Do I Work Full Time But Avoid Being Ill At The Weekends?
I have an issue which I can't really talk about to those I know without being looked down upon.
Basically everytime I increase my work hours to full time/40 hours per week, Im not well on the saturday and sunday/my days off.
9 times out of 10 I have a headache to the point where Im taking paracetamol all day. It doesnt help tht I have a chronic sinus disease/nasal polyposis and so my sinues are constantly dry from the meds and the inflammation. I tried a run this morning but just felt my breathing was strained. I used to compete in track and field but my sinuses mean running is no longer enjoyable. The rest of the day Id had headache again all on the left side and behind my eye. Part of it I think feels like a stress headache. Its the same cycle!
Now when I worked part time - 3 days per week I had the usual sinus symptoms but without the bad headache and I enjoyed the weekends.
However it sort of seems like someone my age should feel ashamed for not working full time

I currently live with parents (though am saving for mortgage/will move out soon) and have always had a weird problem where I can't sleep until the rest of my fanily is in bed. My dad is a gamer and talks to himself downstairs till about half 12 so I don't sleep till after he's gone to bed as I know I'l only get woken up. If I sleep with ear plugs in I worry about missing my alarm.
If you are getting up later at weekends that could very well be the cause of you feeling off.
Dehydration, drop in blood sugar, hunger because you are going longer before breakfast might be the reason.
Conversely it could be a reaction to too much stress and not enough rest in the week - you relax and it catches up with you
Next weekend try getting up at the usual Monday time, have your breakfast as you would on a working day.
More hours to enjoy and you can always have an afternoon nap.
I know everyone differs but I'd never be able to cope on 5½ hours kip a night. One night like that would mean operating near zombie level next day.
Can you get a light emitting alarm ? Or somehow soundproof your bedroom ? In fairness I find that one eventually gets used to background "rumble", it being a case of getting the mind/brain so used to it so it gets filtered out (much like it does with my tinnitus, or for that matter local traffic noise).
