Why do we keep inventing health problems. A topic on tv this morning was...

How to improve the conversation around eating disorders.

Answer. Stop being bone idle and get in the kitchen and cook something instead of ordering takeaway crap. :0)

I'm sure takeaways are linked to obesity and round the clock delivery service doesn't help.  My neighbour cooks proper meals every day around 6pm.  Friday nights they have a few drinks at home and 11pm there is a hot food delivery - usually a curry of some sort.   (I know because the delivery people always seem to ring my doorbell - no idea why, my house number is...

Agree, I get anorexia and bulimia but Binge Eating Disorder?  NHS themselves advise "sufferers" to go and see their GP. In my opinion, just another reason it's so hard to get a GP appointment these days.

What happened to diet and exercise?

There's certainly enough studies on it. And, if a person can be compelled not to eat for various psychological and emotional reasons, surely the opposite is possible.

It's not really about getting in the kitchen and cooking. Though junk 'food' is designed to be ultra palatable due to the many chemicals and additives added to it.

Dear "nicebloke" (oh the irony) often these disorders or not in and of themselves but an outward manifestation of some trauma, maybe family issues, abuse, bullying.

Exhibiting you profound inability to understand an issue, once again, nicebloke1?

^^ BS, we continue to wrap people up in cotton wool. The NHS is full of so called patients with work shy made up problems.

This really is the most ignorant post.  Count yourself lucky, nicebloke.

Glad you're here to provide us insight with your vast knowledge of mental health Nicebloke. So much better than those jumped up doctors who think they're experts just because they've studied in the field for years.

Whatever, start putting the right food in your mouth and that disorder will turn into order.

So anorexia and bulimia don't exist? These people just need to get in the kitchen and cook proper food??? 🙄

Apart from very rare cases obesity is nothing more than greed, and greed of the most unhealthy food. Takeaway joints are increasing at the fasted rate than most other businesses. Take Greggs for one.

Is that linked to obesity?

12.36 reported. You just dont know when to give up the name calling do you.

Well, if people suffering from Orthorexia Nervosa* are recognised as in need of help than that would suggest those who comfort eat also need help.

* Orthorexia Nervosa, an obsession with healthy eating.

I'm sure takeaways are linked to obesity and round the clock delivery service doesn't help.  My neighbour cooks proper meals every day around 6pm.  Friday nights they have a few drinks at home and 11pm there is a hot food delivery - usually a curry of some sort.   (I know because the delivery people always seem to ring my doorbell - no idea why, my house number is lit up above the bell). That's an additional meal they likely would not have had if they had to make it or even fetch it.

I'm sure they are not the only ones that slip in this extra meal at the end of the evening.

Years ago it was rare to see anyone walking along, eating or drinking - except a bag of chips and can of pop in the evenings.  Now people chowing down on a pastie or 'street food' whilst shopping in town is a common sight.  Do they really need to carry a huge cup of coffee everywhere?

Eating disorders, mental health problems, is there anyone left that have none of the above.? People just used to be just fat or perhaps seen as not right in head but everyone just got on with life.

There seems to be some sort of prestige walking round with a branded cup of coffee in hand when around town. More like fools paying nearly £4 per cup.

Lets be clear here, I'm NOT talking about genuine illnesses. Go back to the sixties/ seventies if your saw a very over weight person in the street it was an eye opener, and everyone would stop and stare, no one today blinks an eye and theres thousands of them now.

At school in the sixties / seventies if you had 2 or 3 fat kids in the whole of the school that would be about it, take a look at a lot of school kids today, already over weight and unhealthy, those are the ones I refer too.

There are also droves of adults on electric scooters, some are not even out of their 40s yet and well obest but still conti ue to chew on burgers, sausage rolls, steak bakes as they ride along their merry way. When chewing is complete out comes the coke and fag. :0(

there is some generational change imo, on the need to have a drink to hand at all times.

my daughter has taken a bottle of water to school since reception. i can never remember tking a drink to school!
