I don't know what I have done, I woke up with this unbearable pain in my right shoulder 2 days ago. I kept hoping it would improve but it hasn't. I don't sleep on that side.
Is it possible to dislocate a shoulder without knowing about it?

subject to anything Sqad might say, I wouldn't have thought so. Easy for vertebrae to get a millimetre out of place and muscles to be pinched, though. If you can't see a doctor, try an osteopath.

Thank you jno.
It is extremely unlikely that you have dislocated your shoulder.....extremely unlikely.
This sounds more like a musculoskeletal problem...frozen shoulder type of condition which may take some time to settle.

Might I suggest Ibuprofen 400mgms three times a day with food, or Paracetamol 1,000mgms three times a day and gentle movements of the shoulder if pain will allow.

My wife swears by Voltaren for such pains, I've always poo-pood the idea because 'Dr Khandro' couldn't see how applying an ointment on the surface of the skin could relieve pain in the joint.
However I recently had shoulder pain as you describe, & thought what the hell & tried it, I was amazed, not only did it remove the pain, it did it very quickly to boot.

Worth a try Caran.
thanks dave, my wise old eyes should have spotted the duplication :-)

i had a hip joint pain so much i could hardly walk or sleep so i bit the bullet and went to a well respected osteopath i had three sessions 1 week apart 90% it gone, the rest went away after around 1 month well worth the cost,i had docs pain killers and tablets to help me sleep (they didnt work )
I had steroid injections privately (£400) for a frozen shoulder (asked GP - "Oh, we don't do that treatment any more"!)

Cured it instantly & no further problems 2 years on.
