For the first time in my life the skin on my face has gone dry and flakey so I suppose I need a decent moisturiser. Any suggestions and thank you?

Night one.....Nivea Q night cream
Day one........Nivea day cream.

If you can afford Clarin's night and day then, that would be the answer.

Please thank Mrs Sqad for me. xx

Clarins it is. It'd better be good for the price.

On second thoughts I'll give the Nivea a try first and if that doesn't work the Clarins.
E45 moisturiser.
You can get Nivea at Poundland for £4. Well worth it. Nice and thick and creamy with no scent.
Aldi Lacura range is excellent and cheaper that a lot of the 'brand' names. I've used it for years

Danny thank you. I've got some of that somewhere.

Thanks Smurf but afraid I can't get to the shops as disabled so everything on-line for me. The bit of walking I do manage is to walk my dog and that is more important;-)
I second Danny with E45. Unscented and very good.
Nivea smells horrible.

I've found my E45 and it's on my face already. Thank you all. If this doesn't work I shall go through your suggestions again. xx
I saw an advert for E45 the other day and they were using it on the face.
As an aside...you should make sure that you wash your face with something suitable - anything that foams/lathers more than a little, is probably making the dryness worse.
As a bloke with dry skin, I use Aveeno bar and SebaMed bar ...both are soap-free. (OH likes them both, too).

Thanks Patsy, I like Aveeno stuff so another one to consider if the E45 doesn't work.

I do use soap and get up a good lather ginge, have always done so. I wonder if using that has suddenly become a reason for dry skin.

Elizabeth Arden moisturizing cream was recommended to me when I was trekking in the Himalayas. Bought a tube which was a tad pricey, but never had to use it.

As a guy with really dry skin and, for some reason, every Fall a transient outbreak of eczema on my back, I've been using "Eucerin: Complete Skin Care" for about 5 years. It's expensive, but worth it.
I use Cetaphil skin cleanser...its VERY gentle. I've not used any thing soap-based in ages.
