Sqad I had this done yesterday and felt reasonably ok. I feel a bit giddy/headachy this morning and have a large purplish patch around the cannula site, i am assuming this is where some dye has leaked. Have you any idea how long this will remain?
PS -I can't take ibuprofen ;-))

Was this CT scan was for heart or brain, both would explain your headache and giddiness.

The purplish patch may remain for a fortnight at least and the headache and giddiness should be gone by the weekend.
Sorry, I missed your P.S, then take Paracetamol 1000mgms as and when necessary.

Thanks Sqad, it was thorax abdomen pelvis. It warned the you may feel hot and have a metallic taste, both of which I had for a time
Ah! right margo.....my posts remain unamended.
Sounds like it's a bruise from putting in the cannula
i think mst of the "dyes" they use arent actually coloured are they?
More likely to be some extravasation of blood?
or as SJ says "a bruise" :)
sorry i went into nurse mode
bednobs and 237SJ are quite correct.

"Echy thump, PP is bloody correct lad, its a bloody echybloodymosis"
I had one of those after my last blood test (despite the whole thing being painless and lasting about 10 seconds). But yes, what I call a bruise.

Made me titter :-) 3" ecchybloodymosis is not a pretty sight
Just to reassure you, I had a CT scan just a few weeks ago as a follow up from my bowel cancer surgery 6 months ago. It was on the same areas as yourself plus the chest. I also had contrast dye. I can only say I felt rather "odd" for a couple of days afterwards, headache & a light-headed feeling. They told me to drink lots of fluids for a couple of days. I hope you feel better soon

Thanks for your post which I've only just seen. Like you I've felt light headed and a little strange for a couple of days but a lot better this morning. I hope you keep well.
