I tend to open my bowels between 4 and 6 times a day would a probiotic help, or will that make me go even more.

A visit to your GP would answer that question - he / she knows your medical history, we don't.
Nowhere near enough information.
For how long has this been your situation?
Are your stools well formed or loose?
Any blood or mucous?
Any pain in the stomach?
Any drastic change of diet or medication?
P.S ooops! No a probiotic wouldn't help.

I have visited GP been to bowel and bladder clinic and no obvious problems found, and I have been like it for years.
Then I cannot help help further except to reiterate that a probiotic wouldn't help and it would be unlikely to make it worse.
A long time ago now, I had similar problem. For some reason doctor put me on a course of iron tablets. It seemed to have done the trick..
What is your diet like?
i have no medical knowledge but if this is common for you maybe your metabolism is high and i mean you can only put out what you put in as well thyroid can affect metabolism
Question Author
roadman I do have an underactive thyroid, and tigger my diet is pretty healthy.
Question Author
Patsy maybe I will try a course of iron tablets can't see it doing any harm
Your underactive thyroid is playing no part in your problem as I presume that you are taking Thyroxine in some form, the dose regulated by annual blood tests.
Question Author
