If so, how long before you were able to see clearly out of that eye again?
Thank you.

I hadn't read about the varifocal bit. You can get varifocal lenses, but only if you go privately. You will have to choose between wearing glasses for reading or for distance. I chose wearing glasses for distance because I'm quite used to putting on glasses to drive etc..

Tilly yes I am a bit better today and have improved as the day has gone on. Thanks for asking, x

Interesting Jourdain, no two eyes are the same it seems so I hope my next one reacts less painfully. When I first had glasses I could see the distance when driving but couldn't read the dashboard and don't want to be in that position again. I go privately for my specs so all good. I hope I have only two months between my left and right eye ops like you did. Thank you for the info.
I have varifocals for driving and they work perfectly well. :)

For those , if any, who aren't bored sick, what a change from yesterday. Everything that looked creamy white instead of pure white yesterday looks pure white out of my left (op) eye and creamy white out of my unoperated one today. A M A Z I N G. Roll on next operation.

Still hurts but that's OK now;-)
It is amazing isn't it Lady. Glad you are now "seeing" the benefit of having it done. Not a pleasant procedure but endurable.
That's good to know, ladybirder :) You must be relieved
that's great LB - I am interested in everything you say as sister will have to go through this.

Can I ask at what stage was it painful like actual operation or when - also how long were you "operated" on. Sister hasn't a clue but thinks - oh you just sit up. Thanks for answers LB - glad you are getting better.

Thanks guys. I am relieved but will be so glad when the whole business is finished. I'm hoping I can drive by Monday as I need to go for a chest X-Ray. It's only a 4- mile round trip but I dreamt last night I was approaching some traffic lights and couldn't see whether they were on Red or Green!!

I hope they don't grow back again.
Question Author
Never painful jj, just uncomfortable BUT MOST people don't have any discomfort at all. Ten minutes for the actual op. xx
oh I thought it was 40 min for the actual op but on reflection - I think it is 40 minutes for the drops to freeze - is that right.
nothing like looking out of one eye then the other to realise how much better things are. Cataract removal is the most successful NHS operation, apparently.
Question Author
Yes it does have a brilliant success rate jno.

jj you are there for 3 hours seeing different people and having different drops in your eye staged intervals. The op is 10 minutes only.
Question Author
at staged intervals
thanks LB,
