I havnt kept up with all the covid rule changes
(Which frankly change by the day). Just play it by ear.

Diagnosed with Covid on Thursday (Lateral flow test).
Felt like death warmed up yesterday, (Friday).
Actually had the best sleep of my life for the last few years (last night)
Today I feel a bit 'chesty' and a cough but otherwise fine. Im isolating for the foreseable and booked next week of work.

Bit confused though as to lateral flow tests & PCR tests.
Am I right in thinking that if a lateral flow test shows positive results after 5 days that you can still go back to work?
(Because you are not infectious)
BUT a PCR test indicatates that you CANNOT go back to work until 10 days after?
I might be completely wrong here but that my present understanding.

No if its positive you shouldn't go to work. .. best to get a pcr test . It's if lft is negative you don't need a pcr and can stop isolating
As far as I remember it, if you get a positive LF you should get at PCR test as LF are not very accurate. From the time you get symptoms or a positive PCR you should isolate. On day 6 you can take a LF test and if it is negative you take another one on day 7 and if that is negative then you are free to go. I had covid at Christmas so my info might not be accurate but that is how I remember it.
Google is wonderful
This article is dated yesterday and if you scroll about half way down it will clearly explain the different rules for vaccinated people and those that are unvaccinated.

So confusing!
I was beginning to feel unwell at work on Thursday.
By the time I had finished I was experiencing shivers, headache, sore throat, etc.
Took a 'positive' lateral flow when I got home. Remained home and isolated since.

Recieved a call from my manager who told me to take a pcr test
(which ive sent off for, awaiting its arrival)

Meanwhile Ive been led to believe that 10 days after taking a PCR test that you can return to work even if positive as you are no longer contagious.

Also been led to believe that you can return to work after 2 negative Lateral flow tests, 5 days after a positive result?

Nailit, whatever the rules, I hope you really do your best to protect others by keeping your distance and covering your face.
Best wishes.
You do know that you could have become the most famous ABer ever, nailit?
Nairobi you need to check but I think the relaxation' may depend on whether you are double jabbed....hope you get well soon
I took a LF test which was negative and three and a half hours later I felt rough. Like having flu - shivers, back pain, headache, painful neck glands. Only lasted 2 days though.

Pray tell Roy....
My Nairobi was a weird autocorrect of nailit.

I think Roy's meaning because some post gleefully if an antivaxxer gets badly ill covidwise. Or dies...
Nailit - is your nose really blocked up with Covid? I was worried I might have been left with chronic rhinitis. Took ages before I could breathe and taste food again.

Eh??

I merely stated that I tested positive for Covid and followed the guidelines.
No my nose was not blocked.
You were talking about your symptoms and I thought I would share mine. I`m sorry that you were upset by that.

The joys of text eh?

Not upset in the least, just confused by the blocked nose reference.
I know some people who have had really bad reactions to it all.
Just adding my own experience.
Others I know have had less extremes.
Nsilit I think you misunderstood 237sj due to use of word really. ..it were I think meant as 'very' not as disbelieving you

The you of being ***, more like!
I think the release after five days, with 2 negative lateral flow tests on days 5 and 6, is just for the fully vaccinated.
