My son has just had a positive test for Covid - ironically he was due to have his booster today. The worst thing is his throat which feels like it has glass in it. I've suggested those sprays which anaesthetize it but the effect only lasts a short while. Anyone who has been through this, can you suggest any products that will help his throat.

I am not a fan of throat sprays.

You don't say how old your son is, but I assume that he is in his teens at least.

My suggestion would be Ibuprofen 400mgms twice daily or as needed.

My son is 51. I'm sure he is taking some painkillers but I can check if he is taking ibuprofen.
Thanks for your response.
Try Covonia spray from Boots. Not the lemon flavour!

Does that have a longlasting effect? What other flavours does it come in?
Best thing he can use is paracetamol or ipuprofen. Topical treatments won't make much difference.
ibuprofen and coconut milk.....

He's already been taking those painkillers. Are any of you speaking from personal experience of an extremely bad sore throat through Covid?
I am. It wasn't covid in my case (thought it might be until I took a PCR test) It was a very painful throat though (not just a scratchy pre-cold throat) Paracetamol was the only thing that (relatively mildly) helped. Not much else you can do really.

Guess he'll just have to bear it and hopefully day by time it will ease up. Doesn't matter how old your kids are, you still worry about them and want to do what you can to help them.
