Currently on the ad for giving money to GDBA there is a woman who says she was training to be a nurse and was this (puts her fingers close together) close to graduating when she went blind, then goes on to say that she got her guide dog on the day she was suppposed to graduate.
that seems incredibly quick to me - a different ad say that there are lots of people on the waiting list for a guide dog.
That led me to thinking are guide dogs allocated by illness? age? like organs (ie you have to be compatible)

This is what is says on the Guide Dogs website

The waiting time for being matched to a guide dog varies and is affected by factors including the number of people waiting for a guide dog in your local area, the types of
dog available at any given time and your individual requirements.

Stacey, from the advert, was 12 weeks away from graduating when she suddenly became ill. She spent months in hospital so didn't get her dog as quickly as the ad implies.

Do you know her Barry? I think gdba is a great charity but if they are lying In the ads it doesn't sit well
No, I don't know her, I forgot to post the link! She does say she got her dog on the day her friends graduated but she could be referring to the ceremony and not the day they finished exams or got the results. There was 10 months between my finals and the ceremony when I got my degree.
