Trying to understand isolation rules. My daughter's housemate tested positive for Covid on Monday, she has not been out since (daughter or housemate). Daughter has tested negative 3 times since then and has never been positive. She wants to visit us on Sunday but my husband says he shouldnt. I thought she could.

Common sense tells me he should keep testing everyday or at least on the Saturday /Sunday unless the housemate has been completely isolated from her as she might pick it up at any time. But if husnbands uncomfortable the rules don't matter- just rearrange as or it'll spoil things if his unhappy
If your daughter is fully vaccinated (with 14 days having passed since her last dose of vaccine), she doesn't need to self-isolate. Otherwise she does:

Buenchico has the rules but I still stand by mine
That's bad advice Bob.
Why is it bad advice danny? What part?
Maybe I'm misunderstanding though as the o.p. says "She wants to visit us on Sunday but my husband says HE shouldnt. " Assumes they mean SHE not HE?
//Buenchico has the rules but I still stand by mine//

You continually berate me for disagreeing with much of the rules and guidance, Bob. So what's different about this, then? Is it that the guidance is not so stringent as you'd prefer so you disagree with it? If so, I fully support your right to choose. So why don't you support mine when I believe the guidance is too severe?
Cos husband dont want her there so its not going to be much fun.
And if shes still mixing with an infected housemate whys it wrong to get another test on the day (LFT )- if positive she should keep away , if negative again the husband will feel better
I think you and danny have misunderstood something- maybe in your case jumped in assuming am saying something else or maybe my writing isnt clear
Bob //Why is it bad advice danny? What part?//
Because, from the information provided, she would still have a slight risk of being infected.
Did you read my reply again danny. I said don't go unless a further test on Sunday is negative and the husband is happy for her to come on that basis.

Yes should read she not he. I have read NHS details and yes she has had all 3 jabs, booster some weeks ago. So hopefully ok, will monitor the situation and she will test again before then.
Thanks all
I'm glad we agree colllardove. Even if still negative you may still feel it still depends on how your husband feels IMO
Clearly newjudge got hold of the wrong of the stick here. Easily done- we sometimes assume what people are going to post and read what we expect to see not what's there. Am sure I've done the same before now. Shame as we actually agreed on the thread about compulsory covid passports in shops
Don't know who to believe here.
Bobbinwales who never gets it right .
Danny who thinks he never gets it wrong.
Or N/J who thinks he is always right.
Well I hope you don't believe me here because I wouldn't believe anything you say lol gulliver
That's a bit harsh gulliver1....
Oh never fear bobbinwales is an expert on everything covid related, or so he thinks !!! Goodness knows what he'll do when it's all over and he has nothing more to moan about, or nothing more to be sanctimonious about ...
