Always see Romanians like begging rather than selling - I asked one Romanian for the magazine - no no we don't have any.

Anyway last Saturday a big Romanian guy was selling them and so I paid him and he gave me the magazine.

Just after reading a while ago and date on front page has been erased like watered out - but on reading contents it is 2019 cos it refers to events to happen in 2020.

Have I been had - ah well it was just a couple of quid. But don't think he should be doing this.

contacted them - I received an email saying that they don't sell the Big Issue on the streets any more - digital now. So that was bogus.

However he is kindly sending me a copy of this week's mag with more updated information. Nice that.
I wondered why I hadn't seen a Big Issue seller for ages, didn't know they'd stopped them !
They couldn't sell them, but if caught short they used them to wipe their bum.
It makes sense that they would stop them due to recent conditions. Sellers are usually identified by a Big Issue jacket or similar.
I thought they'd all gone back to the EU. In the past I've just given them the £2 and told them to keep the magazine.
There was a lovely girl with a really sweet smile who used to sell them in my hometown, people gravitated towards her. I bought it, but never read it !
It was more than £2 last time I got it.
Most of the sellers here have been English.
They will never go back home while people keep giving them money.
How do you recognise a Romanian? I would probably know if someone wasn't British but doubt if I could identify their country of origin. Must pay more attention.
A romanian accent is pretty easy to spot
I've still seen the occasional seller - I hadn't realised they might be fakes. I should have checked to see if they still had Queen Victoria on the cover!
Our Big Issue seller is still outside M&S.
He is East European too. How come even British Big Issue sellers list their jobs to overseas arrivals?
I feel like telling him there are plenty of jobs
In my parent's village the East European lady doing it is dropped off every day by a car driven by a man with a couple of kids. Homeless? My a*se.
Vendors don't have to be homeless and we of course don't need to purchase a copy.
They are back on the streets,

"Give your local vendor a hand up and buy the magazine.

As the UK high streets reopen The Big Issue vendors are back – use the map below to locate your local vendor and buy your latest issue of the magazine directly from them. If you are unable to reach your local vendor, you can still subscribe to receive the magazine through your door or device and support a vendor directly.

Wherever you see a yellow pin, 50% of net proceeds from your subscription will go direct to the vendor, providing much needed ongoing support."

It's a shame there are phoney sellers because they are taking money away from those who are genuinely making an effort to get off the streets and into work.
I have my doubts if there are any genuine ones now.
i don't buy it at all, not after i saw the seller imbibing alcohol rather than spend the money on food or shelter. Perhaps that's selfish of me but there you are.
My local Big Issue seller doesn't appear on the map of official sellers.

He is not old, quite overweight and quite fit enough to stand all day 'begging'. There are plenty of jobs round here.
