If you send an email to an incorrectly typed address will you get a notification to say that it doesn't exist or is invalid?

Only if that email address doesn't exist. If the wrong person receives it he may let you know but probably won't

Yes it usually comes back as undeliverable very quickly

I have in the past but it might take a couple of days. Try it; send yourself an email with an error in your username.

That's the word I was looking for - undeliverable!

I had to email the Corporation of London. I tried calling the number on their letter asking for money from the previous owner but no one is available to take calls and they give an email address. I have searched the whole letter and can't find the email address.
