Had my 89 yr old sister on the phone in tears can’t get through to my 63 yr old niece who lives alone for two days either on landline or mobile, I tried ( same) my friend works as a dispatcher for Northumbria Police and was working from home, she did a hospital check and niece is in our local hospital where they’re getting her blood sugars sorted, she had no mobile with her to tell anyone and is worried about her cat , relief has flooded through me and my sister is calmer so me and my daughter will get the spare key off my sister and go and feed thd cat …..and it’s not even 12-30 , phew !

Hospitals are usually pretty good at notifying a relative in those circumstances, or they let the patient make a phone call. Glad she is found, though
Question Author
Thanks Barry , made more awkward for her not having her mobile with her
Question Author
She made a call to my daughter at her place of work from a pay phone but by then we already knew she was in hospital
Thats the problem with mobiles -we rely on them for all the phone numbers instead of remembering them. Maybe advise her to keep an emergency phone number with her at all times in case she has to ring someone on a land line and has no phone.
Question Author
APG as far as I’m aware her blood sugars were 34 + which is very very high , I’ll find out more when we go and feed her cat then drop off her phone at the hospital, not sure we’ll be able to see her the way things are though but at least we know where she is
Maybe get her to wear a medic-alert bracelet or pendant? You can put an emergency number on it and your NH number.
Question Author
She’s allowed her weight to creep up since retiring and now she’s type 2 , hopefully this will give her the nudge she needs to look after herself
She could have gone in to a coma with that sort of level, Bobbi
Good grief...glad she's ok. And the cat.

That was some run-on sentence Bobbi. Hope you've taken a breath ;)
Question Author
Yes I know Barry which makes me think she’d rang and it was an emergency hence leaving behind her mobile
Question Author
Thanks Pasta , they’ve obviously got it down again as she made a phone call to her cousin ( my daughter)
Glad it was a positive result. Now relax...
Question Author
I’m hoping to see her later Patsy ,my poor sister was in a terrible state and so I’ve spent the last 40 minutes calming her down
So glad your friend is a dispatcher for the police Bobbs, that helped enormously didn't it ? Happy for the family that it's all been sorted and that puss will now be seen too. Deep breaths Bobbs .....
Question Author
And it was also lucky she was working from home too BS otherwise she couldn’t have done it xx
Question Author
Never fed a puss before , I’m more a doggy person :0) I’m sure if we put it down for him he’ll eat it, he’ll be ravenous poor thing
I assume his food will be in the cupboards at home which he will be used too, or are you taking some cat food with you ? A cat I feed around here who is left out all the time, loves chicken and I make sure he gets as much as he wants !
Question Author
No,she’ll have all his food in , that’s guaranteed x
Glad you have located her and she's being helped.

She must make sure her medical notes are updated to include contact numbers.
