I burnt my tongue yesterday, after I ate a piece of very hot fishcake.
Eating and drinking now is still painful and difficult.
I got to the point, where it too hot to sallow, as I didn't want to burn my throat, or burn my lips by spitting it out.
I tried some toast this morning, bot it was like eating sand paper.
What can I due to ease the pain ?

Thanks for the advice, but I've decided to not take painkillers due to a couple of stomach upsets
Keep sipping water, and eat cold things like yoghurt.
coat tongue with aloe vera
OK then you can use either Bonjela Gel or local anaesthetic gel, both can be bought OTC.
Rinse your mouth with salt water.
Don't do anything except eat stuff that doesn't cause you pain for a couple of days - yogurt, tepid soups, etc. It will soon heal.
You've got plenty of choices there Chipchopper.
Last time I did this I made up some salt water in a glass and literally sat with my tongue poked out and soaking in the glass of water. Held it there for as long as I could, took out and re did for as many times as I could. Definitely helped.
Sounds as if you need a fire extinguisher!
Possibly an old wives tale... putting sugar on it is supposed to help. Easy to try, at least.

Or maybe not //Sugar-coat It
Sugar is a little-known pain reliever available in your own pantry. A spoonful may help the medicine go down, but a tiny sprinkle over the tongue can also dull the pain when you've burned your tongue//

Never heard the sugar thing…..
I heard it many, many years ago, but never tried it... just googled after posting, ready to apologise lol.

Thanks all, I'll definitely try some of those suggestions, but it looks like it's a case of grinning and bearing for a day or two.
Next time, cut your fishcake in half before you start to eat.
Drink through a straw and you could sip your soup through a straw.
ach thanks for the BA - chippy - never get many of those LOL
...or coat the tongue with honey.
Very unpleasant. Hope it heals soon. ( which it should do)
