My eldest daughter has tested positive for Covid yesterday.
My middle daughter was with her sister most of Sunday and I spent about 4 hours with my middle daughter yesterday.
Today, middle daughter was told one of her pupils has tested positive so she has had to go and be tested.
If she tests positive too, should I go and be tested or do you wait to see if you have symptoms?

I wondered about that Murraymints as I am in the same boat, long covid... Don't know how I could cope if it got that bad again, I have only recently been able to do a bit more. Like walk round the shops, and a bit of housework.
I would do a lateral flow test every couple of days for a week or so. You could have it with no symptoms and you don't know how it will affect anyone if you pass it on.

I have sent for the lateral flow tests but middle daughter who I was with on Monday went for the PCR test and it was negative.
Do I still have to do the lateral test?
I'm asking because I can't stand to put a stick down my throat and up my nose so will avoid unless it's absolutely necessary.
It's not "necessary" unless you have been in contact directly, with someone who had recently tested positive.
So, in your case, no.
Rather than ponder I would just get one. That way you’ll know for sure.

Thanks Pixie. My eldest daughter tested positive, but I haven't seen her. I've had both my jabs and have no signs of Covid, but will keep the lateral flow tests when they arrive just in case.
The guidelines say you don't need one yet. Anything more, is your choice. Hope everyone is ok xx

Naomi, I'm not 100% sure but I think the PCR tests are for those with symptoms or those who have been in contact with someone who has tested positive.
The lateral tests, I think, are for those without symptoms but may have been in contact with someone who has.
None of that applies to me, so I really can't stand to do that test unless I need to.
Okay.
Nobody needs to get a test anymore. It's now under control thanks to the vaccine. All the other measures that the govt put in place were useless and failed to protect the most vulnerable. I seem to remember Johnson apologising for his uselessness and incompetence. But the Johnson sychophants will, of course, disagree.
Clarion, I’m not a Johnson sycophant, I’m a Borisette :0)))
He's still talking rubbish and being idiotic.

If I hadn't taken a test I would have been out there spreading it.

One day Clarion will catch it, and change his tune.
FYI Hopkirk, I had it 2 weeks ago. Not good, but it didn't stop me going away for the weekend. People may get it, but unless they are seriously ill, they will recover. See hospital admission figures, as opposed to positive tests.
And by seriously ill, I mean other health problems. PHE said that 95% of deaths from Covid were people who had one, or a combination of, heart disease, dementia or Type 1 diabetes. PHE said that, not moi!
You went away for the weekend, knowing you had covid?

Highly irresponsible. You know full well that it can affect some people far more seriously than you. It could lead to someone's death.

You disgust me.
I have to agree with a majority. Get yourself tested if middle daughter tests positive. If she gets the all clear, nothing to worry about.

Hoppy, I get the idea Clarion couldn't give a toss if he infected anyone else. By his rationale, I guess if they died of Covid, they were on their way out anyway.
:o) I just love this website! Full of precious, sanctimonious alarmists. Otherwise, it's ok! ;o)
In a way, I was following Govt advice when I went away for the weekend. When he took office a few months ago, the Health Secretary said that we have to learn to live with Covid and get back to normal. That's what I was doing, unlike some people who seem to get some sort buzz out of the Covid situation. Covid is on the wane. It's going. Stop running away. Put your mask away and get out there!
//I seem to remember Johnson apologising for his uselessness and incompetence.//
Youve spouted this before tenCS but its still untrue how evr many times you say it

//People may get it, but unless they are seriously ill, they will recover//
more tripe but par for the course. Most will recover but a significant number of previously fit people will die, and there families will know what nonsense your spouting. Very fit friend has long covid and was housebound for a year and is just slowly returning to work a few hour's a day for understanding employer, but hes still weak and may never recover to anything like he's oldself.
But good luck to you. some like you are lucky
What a load of gunge from bobinsomewherecalledwales. Johnson apologised for his failures in a press conference to the world last January. How can that be untrue? Look at the latest figures on the govt website. Where is the pandemic? Nowhere. You're an alarmist bob. And you love doing it. You really do.
